Rising tennis star Sebastian Korda
It’s no exaggeration to say that success runs in the Korda family. Sebastian Korda was born to world number two tennis legend Petr Korda and former top 30 player Regina Rajchrtova. The pressure was even heavier for Sebastin, as both of his older sisters are LPCA golf professionals with impressive records and awards that have brought fame to the family.
Not to be outdone by his family members, Sebastian did not hesitate to take on challenges at a young age: competing in ice hockey at the age of 5. He also tried his hand at golf and karate.
However, a trip to the 2009 US Open with his father kept him focused on tennis. “Having parents who encourage you to do a lot of sports really helps you mentally, to understand what winning is. It’s great to have a family that understands that,” Sebastian commented.
Following in the footsteps of her sister Nelly Korda joins the Richard Mille family
The young American has been making his mark on the professional circuit. Among his titles to date is the men’s singles title at the 2018 Australian Open, following in the footsteps of his father Petr who won it in 1998. Since then, Sebastian has consistently beaten other young stars and veterans on both clay and grass, becoming a French Open favorite.
Rafael Nadal, another member of the Richard Mille family who defeated Sebastian Korda at Roland Garros in 2020, had nothing but praise for Sebastian: “I think he is a great guy and a complete player. From the first time I saw him, I had the feeling he could become one of the best in the world. He has what it takes to reach the top.”
