According to the share, the newborn girl is named Adira River Ohanian. She is also the second daughter of Williams and her husband – Reddit co-founder – Alexis Ohanian. The couple’s first child is named Olympia, born in 2017.
Williams revealed her second pregnancy at the Met Gala last May.
When Williams told the world in August 2022 that she was preparing to end her playing career, she cited raising a family as one of the main reasons for stepping away from tennis.
“Trust me,” Williams wrote last year in an essay for Vogue magazine, “I have never wanted to have to choose between tennis and family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a man, I wouldn’t be writing this because I would be out there playing and winning while my wife is doing manual labor to expand our family.”
The 2022 US Open is Williams’ final tournament. She reached the third round in New York by defeating second seed Anett Kontaveit before losing to Ajla Tomljanovic on September 3. Williams has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles throughout her career.
