“Okay Taylor… You win… I will give you a child and protect your cat with my life,” billionaire Musk wrote on social network X on September 11, referring to singer Taylor Swift.
Musk’s comments came after a viral Instagram post by American singer Taylor Swift, in which she said that the use of an AI-generated image of herself to imply that she supported former President Donald Trump had worried her.
Next, the singer announced that she would vote for Vice President Kamala Harris and called on fans to register to vote in the US presidential election this November.
At the end of the post, she signed it “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance’s controversial statement that the Democratic Party is full of childless cat ladies.
The post, posted after the first debate between Mr Trump and Ms Harris, received millions of likes in just a few hours.
It’s not yet clear how the endorsement of Taylor Swift, a hugely influential star with a huge fan base, will impact the election.
Meanwhile, Musk, who recently interviewed Trump, has also been viewed millions of times. During the debate between Trump and Harris, Musk retweeted several anti-Harris posts.
He seemed to enjoy the controversy surrounding his post and Taylor Swift’s. “Oh my gosh, now the Elon vs Taylor Swift vote is really happening,” he jokingly wrote in a comment. He eventually conceded and announced that he would give the singer a child.
Mr Musk currently has 12 children and is in a custody battle with his ex-girlfriend Grimes over three of them.
Mr. Trump praised billionaire Elon Musk for being smart, considering inviting him to join the cabinet
