In a recent interview with Flash Score, Sheringham revealed that Ronaldo could return to Man Utd “at any time” and would be warmly welcomed.
“Cristiano Ronaldo would be very welcome back at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim but he is now moving on to bigger and better things,” Sheringham said.
He also believes that Ronaldo will follow David Beckham’s path after retiring, taking on major global projects instead of pursuing a coaching career.
“I think Ronaldo will follow in David Beckham’s footsteps with off-field management, with a big impact in the world. I’m sure he would be very welcome back to the club in any capacity but I don’t think he will be a coach,” Sheringham added.
Cristiano Ronaldo had two spells with Man United, the first from 2003 to 2009 and the most recent from 2021-2022. However, his recent return did not end well.
After an unsuccessful season with Man United under interim managers Ralf Rangnick and then Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo decided to leave, telling Piers Morgan that he felt “betrayed” by the club’s board and coaching staff.
Ronaldo is currently playing for Al Nassr Club in the Saudi Pro League with a record salary of 200 million euros per year. At the age of 39, CR7 still maintains impressive form and has set a goal of reaching the milestone of 1,000 goals in his career. Since joining Al Nassr, he has scored more than 70 goals, helping the club make a splash in the domestic and continental arenas.
Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim will leave the Sporting CP hot seat to take over at Manchester United on November 11. This is an important step for the Red Devils to improve their performance in the current season. Interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead the team in the last two matches against PAOK in the Europa League and Leicester City in the Premier League before Amorim officially takes over.
