Former world number one Andy Roddick has been impressed with Jannik Sinner’s form in recent tournaments.
Recently, Jannik Sinner, the world number one, created a revolution at the 2024 ATP Finals held in Turin, Italy. With great form and ruthlessness on the court, Sinner easily overcame all opponents to win his first championship at this event.
Jannik Sinner comes into the 2024 ATP Finals having won his last 22 matches. He continued his impressive form in Turin, not dropping a set and facing no serious threats from his opponents. In the group stage, Sinner defeated Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-4, Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4, and Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-4.
He continued to show his strength by defeating Casper Ruud in the semi-finals 6-1, 6-2. Finally, in the final, Sinner once again met Taylor Fritz and won 6-4, 6-4. Sinner’s dominance in Turin impressed his opponents and earned praise from former ATP world number one Andy Roddick.
Andy Roddick, in the latest episode of his podcast “Served with Andy Roddick”, shared his thoughts on the recently concluded ATP Finals. Roddick commented that the tournament didn’t have many close matches, and that Sinner’s form was “a joke” in the best possible way.
“It was fun. It was weird. There weren’t many tight matches, right? I think there was only one three-set match that Fritz won. But Jannik Sinner was a joke in the best possible way,” Roddick said.
The former world number one also expressed surprise at how Sinner easily overcame his opponents with overwhelming scores. He said such scores usually only appear in junior tournaments or state tournaments, not in a top tournament with the participation of the world’s top players.
“What he’s done on hard courts this year is absurd,” Roddick concluded.
The victory at the 2024 ATP Finals has affirmed Jannik Sinner’s position in the world tennis village and promises a bright future for this young Italian player.
