A new romance is heating up on the tennis circuit.
Fresh off his first-round win Monday against American Christopher Eubanks at the French Open, Jannik Sinner confirmed his relationship with fellow pro Anna Kalinskaya during a post-match presser amid recent dating buzz.
“I don’t like to talk about my private life much, but yes, Anna and I are dating,” the 22-year-old Sinner said, according to reports.
Sinner, who hails from Italy and is ranked second in the world, was first linked to Kalinskaya earlier this month when they were seen dining together in Paris.
The Russian-born athlete, 25, was photographed in the stands at Roland Garros on Monday for Sinner’s match, according to The Tennis Letter.
The 23rd-ranked Kalinskaya defeated France’s Clara Burel, 7-5, 7-5, in the first round Monday, as she builds on her quarterfinal run from January’s Australian Open.
Kalinskaya, who previously dated Nick Kyrgios, lost to eventual finalist Zheng Qinwen in Melbourne.
The Tennis Letter reported that Sinner was in attendance for Monday’s match.
As for Sinner, who previously dated model Maria Braccini, he’s happy to be back on the court after withdrawing from the Italian Open earlier this month with a hip injury.
“The hip is good. I’m very happy. I’m glad that my team and myself worked very hard to be back on court as soon as possible,” Sinner said, according to the Associated Press.
“For sure, (my) general shape is not at 100% yet, so we try to build every day.”
Sinner, the reigning Australian Open champion, maintains his goal “is to improve every day.”
“I’m obviously happy by what I have achieved in the last months. But our goal is to improve every day. That for me is more important. I know I have to improve some things,” he said.
Sinner will face Richard Gasquet of France on Wednesday in the second round.
