With this result, Inter Miami is very close to the Eastern Conference championship, with an eight-point advantage over the second-placed team with three rounds left in the tournament. In addition, the Florida team is also aiming for the Supporters’ Shield championship (awarded to the best team in the scoring phase). After that, Inter Miami will enter the playoffs to compete for the MLS championship.
At the start of the match, Inter Miami had the upper hand thanks to their home-field advantage. However, Charlotte defended tenaciously and blocked the way to goal. The duo of Messi and Luis Suarez proved powerless against Charlotte’s organized defense.
Trouble surrounded Inter Miami when Charlotte unexpectedly scored the opening goal in the 57th minute. Bronico’s shot hit Swiderski’s foot and found its way into Callender’s net.

In a difficult situation, Inter Miami relied on the talent of Messi. In the 67th minute, the Argentine star received the ball from about 25 meters away. The player moved his foot to shoot dangerously from distance, leaving the Charlotte goalkeeper helpless.
This is Messi’s 15th goal in 16 appearances for Inter Miami in the MLS this season. Despite being 37 years old and having suffered many injuries, El Pulga continues to show his class every time he steps onto the field.
The score remained 1-1 until the end of the match. In the next round, Inter Miami will face Columbus Crew. If they win that match, they will officially win the MLS Eastern Conference championship.
